Seminar: Planning Bilingualism for Managers

Why?

The training aims to increase the number of Senior and Middle Managers who can effectively plan for and manage bilingualism within their departments in Further Education and Work Based Learning sectors. They will be equipped to work effectively with staff (particularly those they have line management responsibility for) in a manner appropriate to the linguistic needs of the learning groups (or individuals) within their departments.

Who?

The seminar is jointly organised by Sgiliaith and CollegesWales and suitable for Welsh speaking and non-Welsh speaking Senior and Middle Managers in FE and WBL.

Length?

This is a half day training course (usually during the morning with networking opportunities at the end over lunch).

Where?

How?

The Seminar will focus on aspects such as:

  • The Linguistic Context – history and current situation of the Welsh language, Welsh Government’s vision, current policies/strategies etc
  • Managing the Positive Promotion of Bilingualism in the FE and WBL sectors
  • Sharing Good Practice: Line Manager’s Role

and all resources will be bilingual.

There will be a Workshop led by CollegesWales’ Director of Engagement during the Seminar and ample opportunity throughout the morning for reflection, evaluation, networking and future planning.

Cost?

The training is funded by the Welsh Government.
