It’s been over a month now since we started the Seren Iaith project. We support the initiative to increase Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s students’ use of the Welsh language in informal/social setting and to increase their awareness of the Welsh language as a skill in the workplace.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be creating resources to be used by students during the student tutorial program on key subjects such as; Welsh language music, the advantages of Welsh in the workplace, and the social use of the Welsh language (online, with friends and outside college). These will be available to students all over Grŵp Llandrillo Menai and will hopefully raise awareness and use of the Welsh language in their daily lives.
We’ve been celebrating Dydd Santes Dwynwen and Welsh Language Music Day recently. To celebrate Welsh Language Music Day (09/02/18), Seren Iaith created a short video with Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s staff and students naming their favourite Welsh song. You can watch the video here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N2ViP9-UN4
Our next activities will be to celebrate St David’s Day (01/03/18). We’ve launched a competition (for Grŵp Llandrillo Menai students) to create Welsh language GIF’s, with prizes including publishing the winning GIFs on Carw Piws website, a business that creates Welsh language posters and greeting cards, and also Welsh language GIFs. The closing date for the competition will be St David’s Day.
