Sgiliaith are extremely pleased to announce that we have appointed Sioned Williams as a “Seren Iaith” Promotion Officer. Sioned will be supporting the innovative Seren Iaith (Language Star) initiative to increase Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s students’ use of the Welsh language in informal/social setting and to increase their awareness of the Welsh language as a skill in the workplace. Sioned will be responsible for organising a series of activities and developing resources for the tutorial programme as well as promoting events and opportunities to use Welsh. The post has been funded by the Welsh Government’s Cymraeg 2050 grant. The grant aims to fund innovative projects that increase the social use of Welsh through technology as well as projects that offer new ideas and activities which aim to promote or facilitate the use of Welsh and which have not been used in the past.
Angharad Lloyd-Williams, Head of Sgiliaith noted, “We’re very pleased to welcome Sioned to the team and to further develop the Seren Iaith project. The initiative has been identified as sector leading and best practice by Estyn in our recent inspection. I hope that Sioned enjoys the role, best of luck to her with the work.”
